         I närheten av ett bergrum som SGU ansvarar för och som tidigare har använts som oljelager, har brandövningar genomförts. Brandövningarna har medfört att grundvattnet är förorenat med PFAS. Grundvattnet sipprar nu in i bergrummet, varifrån det pumpas upp med två pumpar och släpps ut till en recipient via en oljeavskiljare. Idag sker ingen annan rening av grundvattnet utöver den rening som sker i oljeavskiljaren. SGU har därför tagit fram en beskrivning en enkel reningsanläggning för rening av PFAS. Bergrummet finns i Köping med anläggnings nr. 1 147.

         SGU uppskattar att det pumpas upp ca. 10–33 m3/dag med hjälp av två pumpar, som tillsammans kan pumpa maximalt 10 m3/timme. Vid enstaka tillfällen pumpas 55 m3/dag, dvs. det förväntade flödet som ska behandlas uppgår till i genomsnitt ca. 0,5–2,5 m3/timme. Enligt en rapport från år 2015 pumpas det upp 31 m3/dag som i genomsnitt resulterar i en årlig vattenmängd på 11400 m3/1/, vilket stämmer bra överens.

         De pumpade vattenmängder varierar både på dagsnivå och förmodligen också över året. Hur mycket de varierar är inte känt eftersom information om variationen saknas. Det nuvarande pumpsystemet har varken digitala flödesmätare eller en kontinuerlig uppsamling av data. Pumparna är styrda av nivåmätare och kör därmed inte kontinuerligt.
