LA2677C-TCD- RFT for the Supply of Quantum Key Distribution Platforms [2 Lots]
Reference number: LA2677CTrinity College Dublin (TCD), request the supply of two Discrete Variable (DV) Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) platforms for use in the development of a national Quantum Communications Infrastructure, IrelandQCI. The vision of IrelandQCI is to build a national quantum communication network that will support an innovative quantum technology ecosystem that will enable and drive the transition from research-based experimental quantum systems and devices to commercialization-ready quantum communication products, solutions and services and lay the groundwork for International networks. This tender consists of 2 lots, tenderers can submit proposal for multiple or individual lots. Lot 1 O-Band QKD Platform Lot 2 C-Band QKD Platform These Quantum Key Distribution Platforms will be used to create part of the national backbone network. Two types of QKD Platform are required, 1 (Lot 1) operating the telecommunications O-Band (~1310 nm) and the other 1 (Lot 2) operating in the telecommunications C-Band (~1550 nm). A Key Management System is also required with multi-vendor support (ETSI GS QKD 020) support highly desired. Lot 1 requires 1 x O-band platform that can be multiplexed with classical data in the C-band and will be primarily used in metropolitan areas on the shorter inter-city links. Lot 2 requires 1 x C-band platform with a link budget of at least 30dB, to form part of the longer distance links. The new network will be made available for research purposes, as well as allowing Government, agencies, and companies to start building competence and capability in this key area and ultimately, to develop the skills to secure critical infrastructure, data assets, and encryption systems.
