Die Variantenstudie (Nachtrag 40) führte im Ergebnis zu keiner nennenswerten Bauzeiteinsparung. In einem nächsten Schritt sollte untersucht werden, welche Möglichkeiten zur Instandhaltung der Tunnel zur Verfügung stehen, um die Verfügbarkeit der Strecke sicher zu stellen.
