The new two-story school on the existing Diefenbaker site that will have a nominal capacity of 465 students. The total built area of this option is 3,345 m2. The building is oriented east-west
parallel to the northernmost property line to allow the existing school to remain operational during construction and maintain the maximum amount of play area.
This project involves the complete demolition of all existing blocks once the new school is complete. The new school is located to ensure continuous operation of the existing school during
construction, thus avoiding off-site accommodations. The entire school would be replaced with a new stand-alone school. This new school will be constructed with a light-weight structural steel
frame in conformance to the current building codes. The facility would be able to accommodate long-term enrolment needs and would meet the educational and facility needs of the future,
increasing sustainability, energy efficiency, meeting the latest life safety and accessibility standards, and would be built above the flood construction level (FCL).
