Description

The Parole Board of Canada on behalf of The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s (CRTC) require access to a database that will provide detailed information on existing and past Domains, IP addresses, and their owner.

With its mandate to enforce the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules (UTR), the Compliance and Enforcement sector of the CRTC receives thousands of complaints from Canadian every month.

Analysts and Enforcement officers work with various tools and techniques to identify threats, threat actors and investigate violations. Most organizations require a presence on the Internet to operate: this is where a Domain and IP intelligence platform proves to be useful. Among other tools, Domain WHOIS lookups and Domain name information allows CRTC staff to determine a domain name’s existence, past and present, and supporting infrastructure. It also allows CRTC staff to pivot off initial information (like domains, IP addresses) provided in complaints, to expand their knowledge of the infrastructure leveraged by spammers and threat actors.
