Description

The City of Abbotsford is issuing a Notice of Planned Procurement to advise potential Suppliers that the City plans to conduct a procurement process and is seeking Proponents with experience acting as the general contractor for a medium scale pipe protection project along the challenging Fraser River or similar locations, with prior work that is the same or similar in nature to this planned procurement.

Construction is required to complete the repair work at an area of river bed erosion sited on the south and north banks of the Fraser River, east of Beharrell Road and west of Page Road in Abbotsford, BC. Currently, the erosion has exposed a buried 900mm diameter steel, high pressure, Water Supply Main at the south and north bank. The south section is the highest priority area and is at significant risk of compromising the supply main and the Matsqui Dyke.

The instream work includes providing a protective cover, and short transition at the upstream and downstream end to bend the new protection into the existing channel. Precise placement of rock at the south and north exposure, with approximate total of 15,000 tonnage of rock required.
