Objectives and Purpose
The objective of this consultancy is to support the Government of Sri Lanka to assess the effectiveness of locally produced Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) in treating severe/ acute malnutrition (SAM) in children. The Purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical support to the Government of Sri Lanka in evaluating the effectiveness of locally produced Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) for the treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) in children, ensuring evidence-based decision-making for nutrition interventions.
Specific Objectives
"To determine the weight gain among children with SAM treated with locally produced RUTF
"To evaluate the degree of change in anthropometric parameters (weight, length/height) after treatment with locally produced RUTF
"To assess the proportion of children who recover from SAM ( WHZ e -3 without edema) after treatment with locally produced RUTF
"To assess the clinical safety of the locally produced RUTF by monitoring any adverse effects during treatment
