In 2017, SDC launched its Blue Peace Central Asia initiative (BPCA) project in order to support Central Asia countries in managing more effectively water resources as a basis for sustainable development and stability. BPCA directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 6.5 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and is in line with the FDFA Water Guidelines 2022-2025. BPCA builds on Switzerland’s thirty years of water and governance projects in the region. The first generation of BPCA 1.0 with the duration 01.05.2017-30.09.2023 was implemented by CAREC (The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia) which acted as the BPCA Secretariat.
The second generation of BPCA 2.0 aims at building on BPCA 1.0 achievements, and amplifying impact.
