We are currently seeking Subject Experts for specific subjects to work alongside our Approvals Team in the Approval process of an exciting new suite of Made-for-Wales qualifications.

Total quantity or scope of tender

Between March 2024 and July 2025, Qualifications Wales will be approving a number of new Made-for-Wales qualifications.

The approval of the qualifications will be split into two waves. We anticipate that for the first wave of qualifications, Subject Experts’ input will be required between March and July 2024, with training to take place in January/February 2024. For the second wave of qualifications, we anticipate that Subject Experts’ time, including training, will be required from autumn 2024 onwards.

The time commitment is likely to be for up to ten and a half days (per qualification)

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Subject experts may not conduct work for WJEC and for QW during the approvals process.

Subject experts who have worked or are intending to work for WJEC during the development activity for the reformed GCSEs may not work on the approval process with QW.

Applicants who have previously worked for or are currently contracted to other awarding bodies besides WJEC, or other regulators will be considered, subject to the conflict-of-interest declaration that they provide on application.
