Abstract: |
This project is for the design and installation of a new play area at Kingswood Park, Kingswood, Bristol. It is part of a larger National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) project bid for the enhancement of the whole park, with the overarching aim that a wider range of people will be involved with the heritage. This contract will be for the playground and will include the design, supply and installation of new equipment, surfacing, landscaping, gates and new and relocation of existing railings, along with ancillary items, including macadam access paths through the play area, seats etc. The new play area will be based on innovation, providing a thematic link to its history and the local area. It will be fully accessible for all ages and abilities, encouraging informal social use between generations including children with disabilities. The NLHF funding is a two-stage process, South Gloucestershire Council were successful in securing Stage 1 of the project, which enables us to develop the detailed design of the park, prior to submission of the NLHF Stage 2 bid in August 2023. We should hear if we have been successful towards the end of 2023. We are inviting suppliers to a two-stage restricted tender process and five successful tenderers from this stage will be asked to submit a full design tender on a refined design in early 2024 if we are successful in our Stage 2 (delivery stage) NLHF bid, with construction following later that year. If we are unsuccessful in our bid the project will go no further. |
