Description: SDC will be initiating the Women’s Inclusion for Growth and Sustainability (WINGS) project in the frame of the Swiss Cooperation Programme Kosovo 2022-2025. The goal of this project is to enhance women employment by improving the labour market condition that will enable women to access more jobs across a variety of sectors, contribute to the family income and develop more economic agency in their lives. At the same time, the private sector will benefit from a more available and diverse labor force, thereby supporting the growth of the Kosovo economy. Strengthening women’s economic status and empowerment and their financial independence is crucial for achieving all the sustainable development goals. Switzerland promotes women’s equal access to vocational education and training, the labour market and economic resources. It also works towards a macroeconomic environment that is conducive to realising women’s social and economic rights. Given the high rate of inactivity in the workforce, especially among women (less then 20% are active in the labour market), there is a significant opportunity to harness this untapped potential, which could have a twofold impact: 1. Enable private sector to meet their workforce demand by unleashing the opportunities for women to become an active labor force and 2. Contribute to women economic empowerment by promoting a set of supportive measures (transformative and affirmative) that would allow women to easier access job market. The momentum is right with many businesses in need of workers and ready to collaborate to mobilize the currently inactive women labor force, some of them because they want to, but almost all of them because they need to.
