         MARE es medio propio y servicio técnico de la Administración de la Comunidad Autónoma de Cantabria y como tal tiene encomienda del Gobierno de Cantabria para la gestión de determinados servicios en materia de residuos domésticos. Dentro de esta encomienda, uno de los procesos asociados es el de la recogida de la fracción resto y gestión de estaciones de transferencia, servicios que se prestan en 77 Ayuntamientos y 7 Estaciones de Transferencia de la región, respectivamente.

         Once de los 77 Ayuntamientos en los que MARE presta actualmente el servicio, pertenecen a la agrupación geográfica del Besaya

         Actualmente MARE tiene contratado el servicio a la empresa OXITAL SERVICIOS, S.L., con carácter de última prórroga, la cual finalizó el 31 de octubre de 2023.

         Se ha contemplado la posibilidad de que, en el futuro, pueda incorporarse algún municipio cercano, considerando un 20% de modificado sobre el PBL.
