Bids are hereby invited for the appointment of a suitable, competent, experienced and qualified service provider to provide emergency medical services for a period of two (2) years to Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU). Scope: SMU is seeking to appoint a service provider registered with the relevant authority bodies in South Africa to provide emergency medical services to SMU students: • Provision of a 24-hour emergency call centre with a dedicated telephone number and protocol seven days a week; • Provide qualified and experienced personnel required for emergency medical services; • Have appropriate and easy communication between the station and allocated transport which is accessible to students and staff who may be anywhere in South Africa conducting SMU business; • Provide required medical equipment and consumables in the event of a health-related emergency; • Access students, administer first aid treatment on-site and provide required transport to the nearest public or private hospital as per the medical protocol; • Capacity to provide licensed medical air rescue and road transport services that meet the needs of SMU; • Evacuate staff and students to places of safety and care as may be required; • Provide emergency care training and updates to university personnel; • Provide emergency medical services at all SMU events; • Adhere to recognized emergency medical response standards and protocols; • Provide monthly reports and statistics for services rendered; • Incorporate the University EMS staff in the implementation plan of services to be rendered.
