Optima DTR 96 filter plates for delivery to Bergen Hospital Trust
It is planned to enter into a framework agreement (2+1+1 years) for Optima DTR 96 filter plates that will be used in connection with DNA sequencing to remove unincorporated fluorescent ddNTPs prior to capillary electrophoresis using an established and accredited method involving the use of a robot including a specially adapted computer programme at the Department of Medical Genetics (MGM).

The time frame for the contract is 2 years, with an option to extend the agreement by up to 1 year at a time, so that the maximum total contract period is 4 (four) years.
Objections to the intention to sign the contract must sent to the Norwegian Hospital Procurement Trust by the stated deadline.
Section IV: Procedure
Replacing the plates will entail reconfiguring the established and accredited method, which will require testing on a number of setups, and which will require adaptation of the robot from the supplier of the robot, including the procurement of new computer software. Parallel testing on the robot is not possible as alternatives would require total reconfiguration of the robot, which would result in total disruption of primary operations (diagnosis and follow-up treatment of patients).
All diagnostic tests at MGM are accredited. This means that they have undergone extensive testing to show that they fulfil the technical requirements for testing. This is a comprehensive testing procedure where all reagents that are used are tested to ensure that they fulfil our requirements. When replacing a reagent in a test, a new full validation of the test must be run to show that this reagent provides equivalent results to the original reagent. This is extensive work and will require significant costs in terms of reagents and labour time, i.e. at least several months of work for a bioengineer and a molecular biologist, as well as the staff of the robot supplier. This will lead to delays in important development projects for other diagnostics, which in turn leads to longer response times for patients and results in a deterioration of patient services.
