Te Kaunihera o Te Tairāwhiti Gisborne District Council seeks experienced contractors to upgrade the Whatatuna Floodgate as part of the Waipaoa flood control climate change resilience
programme. This project will enhance flood protection by aligning the structure with recently raised stopbanks, strengthening resilience, mitigating climate-related risks, and improving
regional infrastructure for future generations.
This project contributes to the long-term protection of whenua, taiao, and communities in Tairāwhiti. We require a supplier capable of delivering high-quality construction, while respecting
the tino rangatiratanga of mana whenua. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, earthworks, selective demolition, sheet piling, reinforced concrete construction, structural
steelwork, safety barrier installation, fencing. Precision, proactive risk management, and environmental safeguards play an important role in minimising delays, reducing impacts, and
maintaining safety. Suppliers must demonstrate expertise in civil and structural works, robust risk mitigation strategies, and a commitment to sustainable, low-impact construction.
Suppliers must have a proven track record of success in similar projects, demonstrating the capability to meet regulatory and technical requirements while delivering sustainable, high-quality
outcomes.
