In collaboration with 5 regional monitoring network partners (GGD Amsterdam, DCMR Milieudienst Rijnmond, Regionale Uitvoeringsdienst Zuid-Limburg (RUDZL), Omgevingsdienst Midden- en West-Brabant (OMWB) en Omgevingsdienst regio Arnhem), the RIVM monitors air quality in the Netherlands. The RIVM serves as the national reference institute and coordinates the National Air Quality Monitoring Network (Landelijk Meetnet Luchtkwaliteit, LML). Within the LML, there are approximately 50 stationary monitoring stations for continuous data collection, and the network partners operate approximately 40 additional stations located at various types of sites. These monitoring stations provide data as part of the obligations stemming from the European Air Quality Directives (2004/107/EC and 2008/50/EC).

RIVM and two monitoring network partners (GGD Amsterdam, DCMR Milieudienst Rijnmond) will need to supply Atmospheric Ultrafine Particle Number Concentration Measuring Equipment.
