      4. Short description:
         

         The European Union funded Support to the Livestock Sector in the Northern Communal Areas of Namibia Programme is implemented by indirect management with the Government of the Republic of Namibia, represented by the National Authorising Officer. The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform is the contracts supervisor for all contracts within the ambit of the indirect management component of the programme.

         The subject of this Contract Notice is the upgrading of the existing slaughterhouse in Opuwo, Kunene, Namibia to an abattoir, and the construction of an Artificial Insemination Centre in Okapya, Oshikoto, Namibia. The equipment to be supplied, installed and commissioned in the slaughterhouse in Opuwo, Kunene is detailed in the Bills of Quantities. In accordance with Article 40 of the Special Conditions to a Works Contract, all goods purchased under the contract must originate in any eligible source country as defined in the 11th EDF.
