Technical Assistance for Blue Economy and Gender in Tanzania

The main objective of this contract is to strengthen the capacity of the participating financial institutions (FIs) to the EIB Tanzania gender and blue economy facility (EUR 350 000 000 intermediated lending operation) by providing guidance and tools that will build their lending capacity in the blue economy and gender equality focused sectors.

The EIB’s Tanzania gender and blue economy credit facility is a EUR 350 000 000 intermediated lending operation aiming at:

1) supporting the development of a sustainable blue economy in Tanzania;

2) supporting women’s economic empowerment by increasing access to finance for women owned/led businesses.

The credit facility will enhance access to long term finance to SMEs, mid-caps and cooperatives, being either active in the blue economy and related sectors and/or owned/managed by women and/or contributing to gender equality through its products and services and/or by providing quality employment opportunities for women, thus promoting women economic empowerment and broader aspects of gender equality.

The purpose of this contract is to facilitate the deployment of the credit facility in an efficient, responsible, and sustainable manner, in accordance with the Bank’s standards and requirements, particularly in the spheres of gender and blue economy sector eligibility and of environmental and social sustainability.
