         Das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) beabsichtigt am neuen Campus in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Zentralcampus der BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg den Neubau eines gemeinsamen Gebäudekomplexes für die DLR-Institute DI (Institut für C02-arme Industrieprozesse) und EL (Institut für Emissionsarme Luftfahrtantriebe). Weitere außeruniversitäre Forschungseinrichtungen, die sich am neuen Campus ansiedeln wollen, sind das Frauenhofer- und das Leibniz-Institut.
