         The project "Qualitative Growth for Employment" is part of the cooperation programme "Promotion of the Private Sector and Development of the Financial System" is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and aims to improve the employment situation of the Tunisian population through a competitive and sustainable private sector, a deepened financial sector and adequate public and private support structures.

         The project falls under the BMZ core area "Sustainable economic development, training and employment" and contributes to the objectives of the Tunisian-German Partnership for Reforms as well as to the initiative "Marshall Plan with Africa" by supporting reforms to improve economic framework conditions. The objective of the project is to "modernise Tunisian industry in terms of economic and ecological sustainability in priority sectors". The focus will is on an innovative, resilient and inclusive industry as well as an integrated industry, embedded in international production chains.

         The project is implemented by GIZ in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy (MIME) through two project components. The first component is funded by BMZ to promote a sustainable, green and resilient industry. The second project component is co-financed by the European Union and is called "Support to the Modernisation of Tunisian Industry (AMIT)" as part of the "Competitiveness and Export Support Programme (PACE)".

         The PACE-AMIT project aims to reach two objectives: The first objective (OS1) is to assist the Tunisian industry in the modernisation and transformation towards an innovative and digitalised industry 4.0. The second objective (OS2) targets the reduction of technical barriers to trade with a view to strengthening the competitiveness of companies and increasing exports, especially to Europe.

         The two components are divided into four fields of action. The first area aims to improve the legal and institutional framework in order to increase the environmental sustainability, innovation capacity and export capacity of the industry. The second area aims to intensify cooperation between companies and service providers to promote innovation and environmental sustainability in three priority sectors. The third field of action aims to strengthen the capacity of enterprises and relevant support institutions to integrate supply chains and to promote the export capacity of enterprises. The fourth area aims to strengthen the resilience and capacities of enterprises to adapt to changing market conditions.
