This project is a new Iskut Family Services Building located within the community loop of Iskut Village, BC. The facility is a one-storey, 335 sqm purpose-built building tailored to support the
needs of Child and Family Services of Iskut community. The facility is designed to support intergenerational healing and culturally safe service delivery for Iskut families.
The building will include private therapy and counselling rooms, meeting and collaboration spaces, public-facing cultural programming areas, and administrative offices. A multi-purpose
community room and kitchen area will support gatherings and cultural activities. The design emphasizes land-based healing, youth engagement, and community connection. The design allows for
future expansion, with an emphasis on long-term durability, operational efficiency, and resilience to the local climate.
The building form features two intersecting shed roofs, with one creating a vaulted ceiling over the community multi-purpose room and kitchen. Interior spaces showcase a natural material
palette that reflects the local landscape and environment. Site work includes grading, landscaping, outdoor gathering areas, and all associated site servicing and utility connections.
Construction will prioritize durability, operational efficiency, and resilience to local climate conditions. The remote northern location and cold climate require consideration of seasonal
construction windows and logistical constraints related to transportation, site access and construction.
Bids will be evaluated based on pricing and contractor qualifications. Iskut First Nation anticipates entering a CCDC 2 contract with a General Contractor by April 2026 with work on site
starting as soon as possible.
