Description
Scope of Work/Overview:
Objective: Part of parking lot remains unpaved, and subject to mud and snow loads. Mitigate this by replacing gravel with asphalt paving.
Additional Description:
For the current gravel parking area, which is approximately 4000 sqf, on the South side of RCMP HQ Building, replace surface with asphalt. Contractor would prep existing surface. Prep the sub
base accordingly to support the new pavement, which also helps prevent damage from freezing and thawing water during changing seasons. The new asphalt would require appropriate grading and
sloping to help ensure that water will drain properly from the sides and bottom of the finished surface. This process also help reduce future cracks and other defects that can grow into
structural problems over time. The asphalt would require compaction to remove any soft spots that could become vulnerabilities in the finished surface. A binding layer would need to be applied
over the base to help hold the finished product in place. From there, fresh asphalt is laid on top of the binding layer. All appropriate painted indicators such as traffic direction, stalls,
speed limits, etc need to be added after asphalt has been completed
-Parking lot extension (Paved) to the south of current asphalt parking lot.
-Existing gravel path on North side of Support Services Building to be paved over. Part of the gravel path to be raised, to enable better drainage.
-SE Seacans to be left in place. Review of supports to confirm if any reinforcements required in coordination from RCMP Security
-Parking line stall painting to be included.
