Transfer Station Bin Hauling Services: Armstrong/Spallumcheen Residential Transfer Station (ASRTS)
The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) oversees the operation of the Armstrong/Spallumcheen Diversion and Disposal Facility (ASDDF). The landfill at the ASDDF is nearing capacity and
construction of an upgraded Residential Transfer Station at the ASDDF (the Armstrong/Spallumcheen Residential Transfer Station – ASRTS) is underway with completion expected in November
2025.
Once the landfill at the ASDDF reaches capacity, it will be necessary to transfer refuse from the ASRTS to the Greater Vernon Diversion and Disposal Facility (GVDDF). Very limited areas remain
at the ASDDF to manage other materials such as wood waste, yard and garden waste and scrap metal. It will be necessary to transfer a range of materials from the ASRTS to the GVDDF via forty
(40) yard roll-off bins on an ongoing basis starting in December 2025. The RNDO will determine which materials are to be transferred from the ASRTS to the GVDDF at any given time.
The ASRTS includes eight (8) bays, each of which will be equipped with a lidded or open forty (40) yard roll-off bin. The RNDO is in the process of procuring roll-off bins for the ASRTS and
expects that these bins will be delivered by the end of 2025. Roll-off bins currently in service at the ASDDF will be used on a temporary basis until the new bins are received
