Fraser Health Authority (FHA) intends to enter into negotiations with its current MRI Equipment Vendor GE HealthCare Technologies for the Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) Magnetic Resonance
Imaging (MRI) 1 and 2 Design-Build Refurbishment Projects (Project).
These MRIs are integral to RCH operations. The 2 scanners for RCH serve acute care clinical functions. The estimated total combined value of these Projects is between $5.5 million and $7
million dollars plus tax. FHA will negotiate the contemplated contracts with GE HealthCare Technologies for the following reasons:
• The MRI Equipment currently installed at RCH is from GE HealthCare Technologies and they are the only vendor capable of refurbishing the equipment;
• GE HealthCare Technologies will mobilize the Project equipment and resources upon conclusion of negotiations and FHA funding allocation approvals and award(s) in the Project(s);
• There are synergies and savings in clinical and facility operations, project, time and specification work that can be implemented with this company whom has a strategic advantage in
completing the Project(s) effectively in the shortest timeframe with the required outcomes which FHA wants to disclose in advance to other potential bidders;
• GE HealthCare Technologies is registered and comply with all applicable WorkSafe BC regulations;
• GE HealthCare Technologies will have the required Comprehensive Commercial General Liability insurance coverage in an amount not less than $5,000,000.00 per occurrence against bodily
injury, personal injury and property damage;
• GE HealthCare Technologies will have Automobile Liability insurance coverage on all vehicles owned, operated or licensed in an amount not less than $ 2,000,000.00;
• GE HealthCare Technologies will provide a Consent of Surety issued by a surety company registered to transact business in the Province of British Columbia;
Qualified MRI Equipment Vendors may challenge this decision by sending an email Ashley Shin no later than 15:00 hours on October 14, 2025. Provide proof showing your qualifications, workplan,
insurance coverage, bonding coverage and WorkSafe BC clearance letter related to the requirements defined in this NOI. Only challenges from MRI Equipment Vendors capable of refurbishing the
existing equipment under a design-build contract will be reviewed.
