This project is for the replacement of existing debris booms at the Stave Falls Dam. The Stave Falls Dam (SFN) is an Extreme Consequence facility situated on the Stave River, 65 km east of
Vancouver BC and about 5.6 km upstream from the Ruskin Dam. The project consists of Stave Lake Reservoir, Stave Falls Dam, Blind Slough Dam, and the 91 MW Stave Falls GS. Stave Lake Reservoir
has two booms: one upstream of the spillway at Blind Slough Dam and one upstream of the intake at Stave Falls Dam. Both booms are Dutchy style, timber booms with End Span Shore Anchors (ESSAs).
The boom upstream of Blind Slough Dam is a shear-type boom, the alignment of which is positioned by dolphin piles (bundles of three steel piles in a frame arranged with the tops of the piles
meeting above water and spreading outwards as they extend downward). There is a debris removal spit on the right shoreline near upstream of the right Intake Boom anchor. A bag boom is stored
along the right shoreline for debris handling.
