Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is seeking the services of one Senior Facilitator Consultant with one Junior Facilitator to support and notetaking, both on an as and when required basis, to
assist with engagement and consultation meetings in the three Areas of Interest and other Oceans related (Marine Protected Area (MPA) Network Implementation, Marine Spatial Planning, etc,)
meetings in British Columbia. Specific dates will be discussed with the facilitators, DFO Oceans staff, and the site partner First Nations that may be co-leading initiatives with DFO.
Area of Interest Advisory Committees:
The objectives of the Advisory Committee meetings are to solicit advice from First Nations, stakeholders, and other levels of government and provide a forum for sharing information and ideas
between groups. The members of the Advisory Committees will work together to:
• Review proposed conservation objectives
• Review proposed MPA boundaries to achieve the conservation objectives
• Contribute to the ecological risk assessment
• Review the socio-economic overview and the resource assessment overview
• Provide feedback on the draft regulatory intent statement for the proposed MPA (this includes proposed management measures).
The meeting notes and summary reports will be considered by DFO Oceans staff as they finalize the regulatory documents required for the designation of the potential Oceans Act MPAs.
