         Um den steigenden Anforderungen der Bahnstromversorgung gerecht zu werden, beabsichtigt die ÖBB Infrastruktur AG das „Kraftwerk Tauernmoos“ im Salzburger Stubachtal (Pinzgau, Gemeinde Uttendorf) zu

         errichten. Im Zuge des Projekts werden die beiden bestehenden Speicher Tauernmoos-See und Weißseeverbunden. Das Gefälle zwischen den beiden Speicherseen Weißsee und Tauernmoos-See mit einem

         Höhenunterschied von im Mittel ca. 220 m wurde bisher energiewirtschaftlich nicht genutzt. Durch das Kraftwerk Tauernmoos“ mit einer Nennleistung von 170 MW kann hier in Zukunft einerseits Strom aus den

         Zuflüssen zum Weißsee erzeugt und andererseits Energie durch Hochpumpen von Wasser in den Weißseegespeichert werden, ohne dass der behördlich bewilligte Betrieb der Bestandsanlagen verändert wird
