The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has received financing in the amount of US$ 35,000,000.00 equivalent from the World Bank toward the cost of the Geospatial Infrastructure for Sustainable Territorial Development Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, non-consulting services and consulting services to be procured under this project. This project will be jointly financed by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The project will include the following components:
Component A: Support to NSDI Implementation.
The objective of this component is to support the implementation of UZ-NSDI as an integral part of Uzbekistan’s digital government system, based on the Action Plan developed during project preparation in line with the United Nations-endorsed Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF).
Component B: Geospatial Infrastructure and Data Enhancement
The objective of this component is to support the enhancement of surveying and mapping infrastructure (at the central and municipal levels), including the CORS network as well as IT and surveying equipment and software for automated and efficient data collection, which will improve the quality of cadastral and other basic geospatial datasets that will simultaneously enhance climate resilience, identify areas most exposed to climate risk, and design appropriate emergency response plans.
Component C. Institutional Capacity Enhancement and Project Management
The objective of this component is to support the establishment and operation of a Project Implementation Unit (PIU) at CA and capacity development of key institutional stakeholders such as the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Samarkand city, among others, to manage and utilize NSDI data and services through training, annual conferences, workshops, and study visits.
Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers (July 2016) (Procurement Regulations), and is open to all eligible firms and individuals as defined in the Procurement Regulations. After project negotiations, the World Bank shall arrange the publication on its external website of the agreed initial procurement plan and all subsequent updates once it has provided a no objection.
Specific procurement notices for contracts subject to open international competitive procurement will be announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business online, on the World Bank’s external website.
