Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC), Code 410A Procurement, intends to award a sole source purchase order to Hawthorne Machinery Co. (Hawthorne CAT) for Long Lead Time Material (LLTM) SSDG overhaul replacement parts aboard the USS GREEN BAY (LPD-20) in support of SWRMC Code 300. The requested parts are considered essential critical items, it is crucial these parts are obtained through Hawthorne to ensure they are compatible in all aspects (form, fit, and function) with the current system presently installed. Hawthorne CAT is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) with no authorized distributors and is the sole provider for the Navy. The requirement will be processed in accordance with FAR part 12 and FAR part 13. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 333618 – Other Manufacturing Equipment, and the business size standard is 1500 (# of employees).

Hawthorne Power Systems is considered the sole source provider of all materials proprietary to the Caterpillar Corporation IAW with the Government’s specifications. The requested parts and materials, intended to service engines of the Caterpillar 3600 Diesel Engine Family, are proprietary to the Hawthorne Caterpillar Corporation, as they are the sole manufacturer of these items. These parts are critical to support the USS Green Bay (LPD 20) FY25 DSRA availability. The Required Delivery Date (RDD) is 20 November 2024.

This notice is neither a request nor a solicitation of offers; however, all information received after date of publication of this synopsis will be reviewed by the Government for future considerations. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether conducting a competitive procurement is in the best interest of the Government. Responses must provide clean and concise documentation indicating a vendors bona fide capability to provide this product or equivalency. Requests must include company name, address, telephone number of the requester, e-mail address, Cage code, and business size.
