NOTICE OF INTENT FOR BRAND NAME SOURCE JUSTIFICATION: THE EASTERN FEDERAL LANDS HIGHWAY DIVISION (EFLHD), FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION (FHWA), INTENDS TO AWARD TO AN AUTHORIZED DELL EMC RESELLER FOR STORAGE ACCESS NETWORK (SAN) DISK DRIVES, SMALL BUSINESS.

The Dell EMC Storage Access Network (SAN) disk drives are currently being used by Eastern Federal Lands (EFL), as per FHWA HEADQUARTERS (hq) approved Storage Solution. All three Federal Lands divisionS currently have a contract with Dell EMC SAN devices which is the current FHWA HQ approved vendor and Storage Access Network device. We currently use the DELL EMC to store all of EFL project documents that are shared without DOT partners. It is an approved IT Security solution as it secures data in accordance with (IAW) with departmental requirements.

Dell EMC SAN devices were selected as the overall departmental solution via proper considerations IAW the FAR Dell EMC SAN and its disk drives were considered through a LPTA across the Federal Land Divisions. To use another disk drive with the DELL EMC device would be catastrophic as the DELL EMC SAN only allows its own Disk drives to populate the SAN slots. To use a brand outside of DELL EMC Disk drives would have a negative impact on our operations and open our environment up to several cyber security risk.

Autorized Dell EMC Resellers may submit a quotation, and if received timely, within 15 days of the posted date, shall be considered by the FHWA.
