Notice of Intent to Sole Source

The MCI East Cherry Point Satellite Contracting Office, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), Cherry Point, NC 28533 hereby gives notice of their intent to award a purchase order to Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology, LLC (Cage Code: 1DUR9) on a sole source basis in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(i), only one source reasonably available and no other supplies or service will satisfy agency requirements.

This procurement is to provide the Zeiss Care Complete Package to include the Preventative Maintenance and Accuracy Verification, Calibration and CALYPSO software maintenance on the Zeiss Prismo Ultra Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) system to include the Rotary Table for a period of one (1) year at Fleet Readiness Center East (NAICS 811210 per the performance work statement). CALYPSO software is proprietary software created by, owned and licensed by ZEISS. As for the Calibration, only ZEISS has proprietary service adjustment software tools to diagnose and make electronic adjustsments to the ZEISS CMM. Therefore, the government intends to procure these services on a sole source basis from Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology LLC, the original equipment manufacturer.

THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which, if received within five (5) calender days after the date of publication of this notice will be considered. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses received as a result of this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
