The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) intends to award a sole source contract to Life Technologies Corporation for providing preventive maintenance and repair services on a 3500xL Genetic Analyzer. This procurement is being conducted under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Parts 12 and 13.

The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) located in Houston, Texas has a requirement for a contractor to provide all labor, tools, materials, equipment, software, facilities, transportation and supervision necessary to complete all work associated with performing preventive maintenance, repairs and software maintenance/upgrade services on their 3500xL Genetic Analyzer. Based on market research, and previous acquisition history, it has been determined that Life Technologies Corporation is the only vendor capable of providing all necessary services in accordance with original equipment manufacturer requirements.

This notice is being distributed solely through the U.S. General Services Administrations website at https://sam.gov. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this site to ensure they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. The applicable North American Classification System Code (NAICS) is 811210, Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance.

The Government intends to negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Only emailed responses will be considered. Information received will be utilized solely for determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
