Credits: • 10. Number of learners: • 35 learners in a class (English class). Course content: • This unit standard is for employees who will volunteer to educate and communicate with their colleagues (peers) regarding HIV and health and wellness. Learners completing this unit standard will be competent in: • Exploring peer group education within various contexts; • Identifying and explaining the roles and responsibilities of a peer educator within various contexts; • Planning a peer education intervention in a group setting; • Demonstrating skills required for implementation of a peer education intervention; • Reviewing the implementation of a peer education intervention. Non-credit bearing outcomes • To promote health seeking behaviours and to reduce risk taking behaviours with regards to HIV and wellness. Course details: • 1 day of training plus; • 1 day assessment = 2 days on site training; • Delivery of training report within 5 days of completion of training for release of payment; • 4 weeks for completion and submission of portfolio of evidence; • 1 week marking of portfolio of evidence; • Delivery of final report with final assessment results.
