Quotations are hereby invited for the appointment of a contractor for the application of slurry seal surfacing maintenance on roads within the rural areas of the client on an as and when required basis for a period of twelve (12) months. Scope of work: The activities which are to be executed by hand to include: • Employing the required safety measures (barrier tape, signs, cones a personnel) to warn motorists; • Provide personnel with required safety equipment and PPE; • Cleaning, sweeping, clearing and compacting of area for application; • Application of tack coat by brush; • Mixing of Slurry; • Placing of slurry and spreading with squeegees to required thickness (8-12 or 6- 8mm); • Each layer shall be opened for traffic only after it has cured and is capable of carrying traffic. The Surfaced area is then smoothed, and loose stones are removed by dragging the Hessian bags over the area. The surfaced areas should be closed off to traffic for at least 2 hours during a warm summer’s day or at least 4 hours, during Winter to allow for the product to dry; • Dispose of waste material at designated dumping site.
