Proposals are hereby requested for the design and construction supervision of a permanent rail over river bridge on the Veertienstrome - Ramathlabama TFR rail-line at KM 105,738, for a period of 24 months. Scope of works: Employer’s Objectives: The Employer’s objective is to enter a contract with a bridge engineer to provide a service for the design and construction supervision for the permanent river bridge near De beers railway station, on the railway line between Veertienstrome and Vryburg. This shall be supported by the following services: 1. Plan and execute a geotechnical investigation in the location for the permanent bridge. The engineer must conduct geotechnical investigations for the design of the pier foundations and the abutment foundations, 2. Design the permanent river bridge, 3. Produce designs, bill of quantities and specifications for the construction of the permanent bridge, 4. Comprehensive integrated design report for all engineering and design. This report may be submitted later (after construction), 5. Quality inspections of construction works. The engineer will approve the concrete mix design and will also be responsible for the testing of the concrete in accordance with the applicable standards, 6.
