Re-Advertisement: Quotations are hereby invited for the appointment of multidisciplinary professionals to conduct port market study for the Port of Mossel Bay for a period of eight (8) months. Scope of work: The scope will cover in detail the following: a) Analysis of current commodities and services handled at the port and their future forecast; b) Analysis of potential future commodities and services that can be handled by the Port; c) Defining freight flow in terms of origin, destination, commodity, volume and mode of transport; d) Outlining the future of the respective commodities and services over a period of 10 year (supply vs demand); e) Determining whether there is potential demand (new) for the products and services that the PoMSB provides; f) Assessment of new commodities available for the PoMSB and define their potential mode of transport and associated volumes projected; g) Generation of demand model for the port of Mossel Bay (Econometric modelling); h) Indication of the key assumptions used for modelling (economic and others e.g., GDP growth, Inflation etc); i) Definition of the relationship/correlation between demand and its key drivers; j) Forecasting based on assumptions regarding the economic outlook (local, regional and or international), GDP growth, inflation, national capital planning (Gross Fixed Capital Formation), population growth etc; k) Handover of the model to the Port of Mossel for future use. Objectives: The purpose of the project is to provide insights into the current and future services and commodities that can be handled at the port. The project focuses on economic analysis and trends with respect to the different commodities. The port is currently predominated by liquid bulk and break-bulk commodities, and as part of the Port’s growth strategy there is a consideration for other commodities and services that can be provided by the port.
