The New Zealand Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), is partnering with the Government of Niue to strengthen the safety, reliability, and accountability of
Niue’s electricity network.
As part of this work, MFAT and the Government of Niue are seeking an Electrical Inspector / Electrician to undertake a comprehensive inspection of all residential, commercial, and public
premises currently connected to the national power grid.
This role will be based full‑time in Niue and contracted directly to MFAT. It is a hands‑on technical role working closely with the Niue Prime Minister’s Office, Niue Power, and other
government stakeholders to ensure accurate metering, safe installations, and reduced electricity losses across the island.
This is an opportunity for an experienced electrical professional who enjoys hands‑on fieldwork and wants to directly contribute to improved safety, equity, and reliability of essential
infrastructure in Niue.
The initial assignment will be for six months commencing in May 2026 (Negotiable), with the option to extend if further work is required (to a maximum of fifteen months total). The successful
candidate will be expected to be based on Niue for the duration of this period.
The successful appointee will be expected to operate professionally, uphold MFAT’s requirements for conduct while working overseas, and work respectfully within Niue’s cultural and
institutional context.
Closing date for applications: 5:00pm (NZ Time) on Sunday 5th April 2026
