NHC is a nationwide scheme set up in New Zealand to reduce the impact of natural hazards on people, property, and communities. We do this in two ways - by providing first-loss insurance cover for residential buildings against natural hazard damage and by contributing to systems that reduce the risk in the first place.

Our reinsurance programme accesses markets globally, including Australasia, and our broker plays a central role in managing these relationships. In addition to facilitating placements, the broker provides valuable market insights and analytics that support our strategic risk financing objectives. The broker also supports our management team and Board with timely and informed advice, helping ensure our programme remains effective, resilient, and aligned with our risk financing strategy.
