The proposed Contract Works consist of the fit-out of existing spaces AM005 & AM006, located in the Alan MacDiarmid building at the Kelburn Campus, Wellington. This is to fit-out two
existing
spaces into a technician’s office and a workshop.
This workshop and technicians’ office is to support the new Mechatronics course at Victoria University of Wellington, which commences in 2026. This new course seeks to integrate the School of
Engineering and Computer Science"s existing strengths in computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, cybersecurity, software engineering, electronic engineering, and renewable
energy systems. This new course is designed to prepare students for the dynamic field of mechatronics, which combines mechanical engineering, electronics, computer technology, and control
engineering.
The new course will address current and future industry demands, fostering innovation and equipping graduates with the skills necessary to thrive in high-tech engineering environments. These
two spaces are required to be fully operations from Trimester 2 2026
