An application for funding from the Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF) has resulted in funding being made available for significant upgrades to the wastewater and water networks in the Far
North township of Kaikohe. This project is an important enabler to enhance the resilience of the water and wastewater networks and optimise capacity for future growth through the planned
development of approximately 365 new homes.
This project incorporates:
Taraire Hills Water Treatment Plant Upgrade - upgrading the existing water infrastructure including new water treatment infrastructure, electrical upgrades a new intake from the Wairoro Stream
and a new 1,500m³ treated water reservoir.
Water Supply and Reticulation Upgrade - the construction of new water reticulation including the supply and laying of approximately 3,550m of new pressure pipe with associated valves, air
valves and associated fittings.
Wastewater Reticulation Upgrade – the construction of a new pumpstation and rising main approximately 3,790m long, including the supply and install of new uPVC wastewater gravity pipelines
approximately 2670m long and associated manholes, connections, and pipe bridges.
