Scion is a Crown Research Institute (CRI), which is a government-owned company that carries out scientific research for the benefit of New Zealand. We specialise in research, science and
technology development for the forestry, wood and wood-derived materials and other biomaterial sectors
What we need
We want to procure an advanced Engineered Wood Products (EWP) manufacturing system consisting of an:
• Engineered wood-based products press and
• Glue spreader and
• Sample preparation and testing bench.
Together, this system will allow us to build lab-scale versions of industrial prototype and scale-up beams that will meet appropriate testing standards for the NZ building industry.
The equipment should have both service maintenance provisions and consumables easily available over the whole of life. Ideally this will be provided by a supplier who has integrated
environmentally sustainable components and considerations in the build and ongoing support.
The supplier will be able to provide and describe the purchase, delivery, installation and commissioning of the equipment, including training of staff and handover of all appropriate
documentation and certifications.
