Te Papa is seeking an industrial process partner to undertake detailed design stage design and subsequent build of alcohol storage and dosing systems to serve the proposed new Te Papa
Biodiversity Research Centre (BRC) Facility.
At a high level, the systems include:
1) Two clean alcohol dispensing systems.
The facility runs two separate alcohol systems for storing, circulating and dispensing of high strength ethanol alcohol and iso-propyl alcohol (IPA). Product is delivered in approx. 200 litre
drums and decanted into the circulation tanks that dispense the alcohol through the facility.
Users dispense the IPA or ethanol at a number of dedicated dispensing points within the facility. The system is connected to a control system to allow the users to dial in requested volumes and
view dispensing status.
2) Waste ethanol alcohol system.
The waste ethanol is a mix with water and fish debris from the ethanol stepping tanks is to be pumped back to a waste ethanol receiving tank in the DG Pumproom. The users also tip small
quantities of waste ethanol, collected from the lab spaces, into the waste ethanol tank. When the receiving tank reaches a suitable level, users can pump the waste ethanol into the empty 200
litre product drums for storage within the DG Temporary Store for removal by the waste contractor.
The design and build partner will likely be engaged during the design phase to complete design activities, and may become a nominated supplier to work alongside the main building Contractor to
supply, install, and commission the completed system.
