         Door instroom van nieuw metromaterieel (M5) en de groei van reizigersaantallen is er behoefte aan een meer robuuste energievoorziening voor de metro. Daartoe is project tractieverzwaring metro opgestart dat tot doel heeft een meer bedrijfszekere en opgeschaalde energievoorziening te realiseren waarin bovendien de tractie-installatie van de NZ lijn geïntegreerd wordt in het bestaande tractie energie systeem van de metro. Met de realisatie van dit project zullen deze kabels waar nodig vervangen worden.

         De kabel wordt vooruitlopend op de gunning in de aanbesteding voor de bouw en installatie van de tractie energie voorziening separaat aanbesteed, en in opdracht gegeven. De aangekochte kabel wordt aan de Opdrachtnemer voor de bouw en installatie van de tractie-energie voorzieningen als directielevering meegegeven.

         De kabel dient voor de start van het project tractieverzwaring medio augustus 2023 geproduceerd, en klaar voor afroep te zijn.
