Introduction

Airport of Mauritius Co. Ltd (AML), as the Implementation Agency for the Rodrigues Airport Infrastructure Development project together with the funding Agency, the World Bank, will be hosting an Early Market Engagement (EME) presentation for the Rodrigues 2,100 metres Runway Project.

Key Objectives

This exercise aims to provide stakeholders with general information on this major infrastructure project and gather feedback, assess market interest, and ensure that the procurement processes are successfully carried out. More so, it will serve to gauge market interest and identify potential partners, improve project structure and bidding documents and address risks and optimize implementation.

Scope of Project

The Early Market Engagement exercise will focus mainly on Component 1 of the project, namely Infrastructure Development, for which, the estimated value is USD 170 million.

Component 1 of the project consists of the following:

• Construction of a new runway 2.1 km long x 45m wide in Marshall asphalt and associated taxiways.
• Construction of three new aircraft parking stands for A321 Neo type aircraft including the two connecting taxiways. Enhance aircraft parking capacity from 2 to 5)
• Provision of storm water drains alongside new runway and taxiways.
• Provision of AGL and Control Systems for the new runway
• Provision of Navigational aids for the new Runway, and relocation of VSAT.
• Building Infrastructure & services, including the following:
• New control tower comprising of all ancillary facilities (enhance safety of aircraft operations)
• New Rescue and Fire Fighting Station with all associated amenities (for Rapid Rescue operations in case of air crash inland.)
• Boat House Ramp and Jetty (for Rapid Rescue operations in case of air crash onto the sea.)
• New Meteo Building, Quarantine Building, Power Centre, and incinerator building (incineration of aircraft waste) with all associated amenities
• New Access Road, Car Park and Landscaping Works (increase car park capacity)
• New Power Supply System and Water Supply System
