• The Government of the Republic of Malawi has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Agricultural Commercialization, and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Rehabilitation of Lufilya Irrigation Scheme in Karonga District as per the table above. For this contract, the Borrower shall process the payments using the Direct Payment disbursement method, as defined in the World Bank’s Disbursement Guidelines for Investment Project Financing.
• The Ministry of Agriculture through– Agricultural Commercialization (AGCOM) Project now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for Rehabilitation of Lufilya Irrigation Scheme in Karonga District. The works are expected to be implemented within 6 months. Margin of preference shall NOT apply.
• Bidding will be conducted through national competitive procurement using a Request for Bids (RFB) as specified in the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers” dated November 2020, (“Procurement Regulations”), and is open to all Bidders as defined in the Procurement Regulations.
• Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from Agricultural Commercialisation (AGCOM) Project during office hours i.e., 0900 to 1700 hours, at the address NO 1 given below.
• The bidding document in English language may be purchased by interested eligible Bidders upon the submission of a written application to the address NO 1 below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Ten Thousand Kwacha (MWK10, 000.00). The method of payment will be cash or bank certified cheque. The document will be sent by any method preferred by the bidder on the bidder’s account.
• Bids must be delivered and deposited in the tender box at the reception of address 2 on the first floor before 14.00 hours on 7th June, 2023. However, bidders must register their bids at the reception on the first floor before depositing them in the tender box. Electronic Bidding will NOT be permitted. Late Bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the Bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who chooses to attend at the address 2 below. Note that COVID 19 rules and measures will be observed.
