• The Republic of Lebanon has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Lake Qaraoun Pollution Prevention Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Design and Construction of Sludge Solar Dryers for Zahlé Wastewater Treatment Plant (QC1W5).
• The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) acting as an implementing agency for and on behalf of the Republic of Lebanon, and as Employer under the Contract, intends to initially select Applicants for Design and Construction of Sludge Solar Dryers for Zahlé Wastewater Treatment Plant (the Works). It is expected that the Request for Proposals will be made in August 2023.
• Initial Selection will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement of Goods, Works and Non-Consulting Services under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants by World Bank Borrowers January 2011, Revised July 2014 (“Procurement Regulations”), and is open to all eligible Applicants as defined in the Procurement Regulations. In addition, please refer to paragraphs 1.6 and 1.7 setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.
• Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information from the CDR at the address below during office hours (from 9:00 to 15:00 Beirut Local Time). A complete set of Initial Selection documents in English may be purchased by interested Applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Fifty US Dollars (50US$). The method of payment will be a bank certified cheque or bank transfer (banking details will be provided upon request) in favour of the Council for Development and Reconstruction. The document shall be picked up from CDR Tenders Department at the address below, and for international bidders, the bidding document could be sent via e-mail upon request and after receipt of the above-mentioned nonrefundable fee excluding any additional transfer costs.
• Applications for Initial Selection should be submitted in clearly marked envelopes and delivered to the address below on or before 12 O’clock, noon, Beirut Local Time on Thursday August 17th, 2023. Late applications may be rejected.
