St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) is an ambitious and growing hospital organization on St. Maarten. With more than 425 FTE’s, 28 Specialists and a capacity of 80 beds, we continuously strive to ensure safe, quality health care. Our primary service area of St. Maarten, Statia and Saba, represents a total population of approximately 60.000 people, constituting a multi-cultural mix with more than 100 different nationalities. In addition, we also offer health care services to the two million visitors annually. SMMC has started the construction of the new St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH) to expand its services in order to accommodate the increased care demand of the people of St. Maarten, its visitors and neighboring islands. The new hospital is planned to be operational in 2026. Your Profile: We are seeking a seasoned expert in Learning and Human Resource Development (L&D) who is resilient and has a proven track record of managing projects. As L&D Project Manager, you are responsible for ensuring that all employees have the necessary competencies and skills based on appropriate education and training. This position requires initiative, drive, and ambition to succeed. You are able to facilitate robust dialogue with senior management on human capital development based on the strategic directions, vision, mission, and core values of our organization. What We Offer: We offer you a temporary position with a one year contract and the possibility of an extension in an open, dynamic, and professional organization. We invite qualified applicants to consider this position where you will play a crucial role in the development of all staff including leadership development. The L&D Project Manager is part of the transition team of St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH). Requirements: • A Master’s degree in Human Resource, Education Management or Project Management with extensive experience in a relevant field; • Highly motivated and results-driven; • Strong analytical, interpersonal, negotiation and problem‐solving skills; • Planning, policy development and reporting skills; • A high level of integrity and reliability; • Experience in the health care sector is plus. Tasks: • Manage all L&D activities and ensure that timely training is provided; • Work closely with managers, supervisors and the Human Resources Department to determine staff training; • Identify staff development needs and source and negotiate with training providers; • Ensure flawless execution of training courses and seamless implementation; • Prepare management reports and provide updates to the SMMC’s Management Team and SMGH’s Project Management Unit; • Evaluate the effectiveness of trainings and courses.
