The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received financing in the amount of US$ 300 million equivalent from the World Bank of which USD 50 million is for IPF component, counterpart funding by Regional Administrations USD 107 million towards the cost of the rural connectivity for food security operations and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, non-consulting services and consulting services to be procured under this project.
The project will include the following components:
Window 1: Piloting an E-market Platform (US$17.5 million). This component is to be implemented by Agricultural Transformation Institute and will develop a comprehensive digital market platform that expands on current initiatives and promote modern contract farming management—serving as a virtual market.
Window 2: Capacity building for Federal, Regional and Woreda implementing agencies and support for the management of the operations through Ministry of urban and Infrastructure – USD 32.5 million
Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers (September 2023) (Procurement Regulations),and is open to all eligible firms and individuals as defined in the Procurement Regulations. After project negotiations, the World Bank shall arrange the publication on its external website of the agreed initial procurement plan and all subsequent updates once it has provided a no objection.
Specific procurement notices for contracts subject to open international competitive procurement will be announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business online, on the World Bank’s external website and on The Ethiopian Herald Newspaper.
