Rocky View County (the “County”) intends to replace the existing Old East Sanitary Lift Station located in Langdon, Alberta. The existing lift station was constructed in approximately 1983
and is approaching the end of its operational lifecycle. A recent engineering condition assessment identified several deficiencies within the facility, including aging mechanical equipment,
corrosion of piping and valves, outdated electrical systems, and the lack of proper separation between classified Wetwell environments and non-classified electrical equipment.
Based on these findings, complete replacement of the facility has been identified as the preferred long-term solution. The proposed project will involve the design and construction of a new
sanitary lift station facility adjacent to the existing station, allowing the current lift station to remain operational during construction and minimizing service disruptions.
The replacement facility will be designed to:
• replace aging infrastructure nearing the end of its service life
• improve operational reliability of the wastewater conveyance system serving Langdon
• provide safe working conditions for County operations staff
• comply with Alberta Building Code and Canadian Electrical Code requirements
• provide appropriate separation between classified wet-well areas and electrical equipment
• incorporate modern mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
• optimize lifecycle costs and operational reliability
The County anticipates proceeding through preliminary design, detailed design, tendering, and construction management to produce tender-ready construction documents in the first quarter of 20
