Description

BC Hydro requires a Contractor to provide an immersive film experience for the Site C Cultural Centre. Final installation of the immersive theatre will be in Fort St. John, BC.

The BC Hydro Site C Cultural Centre (“Cultural Centre”) will commemorate and celebrate the cultures of the Indigenous Peoples impacted by the construction of the Site C Clean Energy Project. The Cultural Centre will be located near the Site C dam and generation station, overlooking the Peace River and a short drive from Fort St. John, BC. The facility will house the following functions:

● Artifact storage facility to house the thousands of artifacts uncovered over the course of the Site C Clean Energy Project construction.
● Indoor gathering space to facilitate large gatherings, ceremonies, meetings, and events.
● Café / small food services area with seating
● Gift Shop
● Exhibit spaces, including dedicated exhibit rooms, circulation spaces with exhibits and an outdoor exhibit area.

Cultural Centre. The immersive film experience is a visually rich and emotionally resonant visitor experience delivered via projection on the walls and the floor. The immersive environment offers sweeping views of the landscape, visceral experiences of the natural world through sound and simple animations, which surround the audience (for example, weather events, the rushing of the river"s power, and the power of animals moving in the landscape), beautiful, framed images of community members speaking to their experiences, and animated sequences that take viewers into the prophesies and stories about the river and changes to come.

Delivery or completion date is 2027 Dec 31.
